If you decide to mine, you get the warning //"Someone triggered a hidden trap placed on one of the asteroids here. The trap causes a powerful Smartbomb to go off, damaging many ships in the vicinity"//. This happens every time a laser cycle finishes and ore is taken from any asteroid. The damage does __not__ affect NPCs.
The average hit caused from the Smartbomb varies, 280 - 450 at a distance of 17km from the beacon. The frequency is random. The Smartbomb is centered on the Beacon which cannot be destroyed.
